Atlantic City Historical Fact: The first recorded owner of the area
that became Atlantic City was Thomas Budd, an Englishman, who arrived
in the late 1670's. Budd was given the property as a settlement and was
then valued at $ 0.40 an acre, while the beach land a mere $ 0.04 an acre.
